Our representative welcomes you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfers you to the hotel; the rest of the day is free to rest. We collect original passports for the China group visa and hand over your Yatra kit (duffle bag, cap, jacket, trekking stick).

Morning darshan at Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Budhanilkantha (Sleeping Vishnu), then an evening briefing on the yatra. Visa processing continues.

A long drive north along the Trishuli river, through hills, villages and Langtang National Park, to Dhunche, Timure or Syabrubesi near the Rasuwagadhi border.

Short drive to the border, walk across and complete Nepal exit and Chinese immigration, then drive uphill into Tibet to Kerung to rest and acclimatise before the plateau.

Climb out of the Kerung valley onto the Tibetan plateau, with views of Shishapangma and turquoise Peiku Tso, and cross the Brahmaputra (Yarlung Tsangpo) to reach Saga.

A long but breathtaking drive across the plateau. Your first darshan of Mount Kailash appears from the road, then you complete a vehicle circuit of Lake Mansarovar. On Full-Moon departures, tonight you watch Purnima rise over the holy lake.

Holy bath, puja and hawan on the shore of Lake Mansarovar, then a short drive to Darchen, base of Mount Kailash, with views of its south face. Arrange porters / ponies for the Kora.

Drive to Yam Dwar, gateway of the Parikrama, and trek up the Lha Chu valley to Dirapuk, with close views of the sheer north face of Kailash.

The most demanding and most rewarding day. Pre-dawn start, steady climb to Dolma La Pass, past the emerald Gauri Kund, then the long descent to Zuthulphuk — the cave monastery of Milarepa.

Walk the final stretch to complete the sacred Parikrama, return to Darchen and drive on to Saga. Celebrate — you have completed the Kailash Kora.

Retrace the plateau route back down into the greener Kerung valley — warmer air and thicker oxygen at last.

Cross back into Nepal at Rasuwagadhi and drive down to Kathmandu.

Drive from Lucknow to Nepalgunj and cross into Nepal. Check in to your hotel, meet the team for a briefing and rest before the flights.

Early scenic flight to Simikot, weather permitting. Depending on the schedule you stay in Simikot or continue by helicopter to Hilsa; the rest of the day is for acclimatisation.

If you stayed in Simikot, fly by helicopter to Hilsa. Cross the Nepal–China border, complete customs and immigration, and drive to Taklakot (Purang) to rest and acclimatise.

Drive across the Tibetan plateau to Lake Mansarovar, complete the parikrama of the lake by vehicle and, weather permitting, receive your first darshan of Mount Kailash.

Morning darshan and ceremonies at Pashupatinath, Nepal's holiest Shiva temple, and at Budhanilkantha, the shrine of the sleeping Vishnu. In the evening we hold a full yatra briefing at the hotel and hand out your gear for Tibet.

A morning flight of about an hour crosses the Himalayas to Lhasa Gonggar airport. After check-in, take it easy to let your body adjust to the altitude, then enjoy a gentle evening walk around Barkhor Street in the old city.

A full day in Lhasa at an easy pace while you acclimatise. Visit the Potala Palace rising above the city and the Jokhang Temple, the most sacred temple in Tibet, then join pilgrims walking clockwise around the Barkhor circuit with their prayer wheels.

Drive over Khamba La (4,794 m) for sweeping views of the turquoise Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet's sacred lakes. Continue to Shigatse, Tibet's second city, and visit the great Tashilhunpo Monastery before checking in.

A long, scenic drive west along the Brahmaputra (Yarlung Tsangpo) valley as farmland gives way to high plains, yak herds and nomad settlements. Arrive in Saga by evening and rest well for the next day's drive.

Cross Mayum La for your first darshan of Mount Kailash, rising beyond Rakshastal. Then complete the vehicle parikrama of holy Lake Mansarovar — about 105 km around the shore — and settle into a lakeside guesthouse.

An early-morning holy bath, hawan and prayers on the lakeshore, with private tents set up for the rituals, followed by a hot lunch. A short drive then brings you to Darchen, base of Mount Kailash, where we arrange porters and ponies for the Kora.

Drive to Yam Dwar, gateway of the Parikrama, and walk about 15 km up the Lha Chu valley to Dirapuk, with Kailash's west and then north face beside you. Pilgrims not doing the trek return to Darchen and wait for the group there.

The hardest and holiest day. A pre-dawn start and a steady climb to Dolma La Pass, strung with prayer flags, then past the emerald Gauri Kund (Parvati's lake) and down the long valley to Zuthulpuk, the cave monastery of Milarepa — about 22 km in all.

Walk the final 8 km out of the valley to complete the sacred Parikrama and meet the coach. Return via Darchen and drive on to Saga for a celebration dinner — you have completed the Kailash Kora.

Retrace the route east across the Tibetan plateau, arriving in Shigatse by mid-afternoon. The rest of the day is free to rest or take a quiet walk around town.

Drive back to Lhasa and check in at the hotel. In the evening the group gathers for a celebration dinner to mark the completion of the yatra.

Transfer to Lhasa Gonggar airport for the return flight over the Himalayas to Kathmandu. Check in at the hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening — perhaps some last-minute shopping in Thamel.

Receive your Yatra completion certificate at a closing gathering, then transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight home. Om Namah Shivaya.
